BOTTLE ROCKET Reviews

*Uptown Magazine 06/06* "Two guitars, a great big drum sound and Mark Stretch's furious bass. after yer first listen to Bottle Rocket you'll wonder what took the FK's so long to figure out that four means more. Never mind that, though. This FK sound is here, its now and its a fantabulous drunkpunkapoparolla roar that lays waste to at least half of what has passed for the same in the past six years. Just check the end of Bloodstains for proof of this bands essential credo: "Bloodstains, cheap thrills, fast cars, great skills. bleagh!" What the hell else do you need? To be semi-serious for just a moment, a second guitar adds a whole new dimension to the Kildonans - so much so that they may want to consider a better adjective than fabulous. This shit rawks with capital letters. Check out Track 7, Marks New T.V., and then try to argue that it sucks. You simply cant."

*Nerve Magazine 08/06* "The Winnipeg punk/metal hooligans are back with yet another vicious full-length attack. There is an added depth to the songs this time around, so they arent as immediately catchy. Fear not, after a few listens, theyll get stuck in your head so bad that not even that horrible Hands In My Pocket commercial will be able to dislodge them. Buy two: one for yourself, and one to give to grandma for Christmas. Bottle Rocket will finish the old bag once and for all."

GOD IS A WOMAN AND SHE'S PRO CHOICE Review

*Winnipeg Sun 02/04* "Do we really need another punk rock band? If said band is The Fabulous Kildonans, youre damn right we do, bub. Starring singer-guitarist Fat Johnny, drummer Sterling Stardom and ubiquitous bassist and punk legend Mark Stretch Mark, the Kildonans are one of the few bands around that deserve their Fabulous designation. And were not talkin in some Designer Guys sense (though we do approve of their red shirts and ties). Were talking fab in the garage-punk sense - and that means searing guitar riffs, a propulsive and spot-on rhythm section, lyrics with a healthy dose of dumbbell humor, vocals that are snotty enough to be contagious, and urgent four-chord anthems that simultaneously swear allegiance to punk (without devolving into cliche) and rock out (without succumbing to self-parody). Fabulous? Absolutely, brother."

BIOGRAPHY:

In May 2002 the Fabulous Kildonans unveiled their rock-solid sound, look and attitude with the release of the Bang on Saigon Pussy E.P. and a barrage of explosive, sonic and intense live shows. This Winnipeg based trio, consisting of legend Mark Stretch Mark (bass), Fat Johnny (guitar) and Sterling Stardom (drums), were out to prove that they have more than enough of the good stuff to shred the jaded and tired world of generic ROCK to pieces.

The bands fan base and popularity has continued to grow in recent years with the release of 2 full length records - God is a woman and shes pro choice in 2003 and Cock: A celebration of male power & strength in 2004.

2005 was a busy year for the band with a stand-out track on the Winnipeg produced Guess Whos Home Guess Who tribute CD which has been released nationally, received airplay on many Canadian college radio stations and has charted on the National Campus Radio Top 50. The Fabulous Kildonans were Januarys feature cover story of Winnipegs Uptown Magazine, had a feature article in the July issue of Nerve Magazine distributed nationally from Vancouver, and participated in JunoFest 2005 as part of the Juno Awards celebration in Winnipeg last April. As well, the band recently launched fabulouskildonans.com, played an acoustic set with Grant Hart (Husker Du) last May and headlined the citys most successful mainstage Canada Day celebration at the Forks on July 1st, playing for an estimated 25,000 people. 2006 looks to be even more promising for the Fab Ks, with the national release of their 3rd full-length record Bottle Rocket on Transistor 66 Records.

With too many live shows to document between the 3 members, at one time or another, have shared the stage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Social Distortion, Supersuckers, Circle Jerks, DOA, Grant Hart (Husker Du), Meat Puppets, SNFU, Soul Asylum, Treble Charger, RATT, The Vandals, Crash Test Dummies and the Barenaked Ladies.
