Burnthe8track is Derek Kun, Sam Osland, Ethan Osland and Mark Nowak. Over the last 8 years, the band has been propelling their turbulent live show throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. They have toured and shared the stage with a number of notable bands including Sum 41, Propagandhi, Bad Religion, Death By Stereo, Comeback Kid, Ignite, The Misfits, and AFI. They have played major festivals including the Vans Warped tour, Tuinfest in the Netherlands, and appeared at a number of industry showcases including CMJ, JunoFest, and NXNE. The band has had two videos in rotation on MuchMusic, MuchLoud, MTV2, MTV Europe, and VIVA Europe. Their songs have also appeared on the soundtracks to ESPN’s NHL 2K5 and MTV’s Cribs and Skateboarding the World's Smallest Country: Red Bull All Access.
In 2004, Burnthe8track's debut album, The Ocean, was released on Abacus Records, a subsidiary of Century Media, as well as Alveran Records throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. The band toured extensively to support the album, playing shows all over Canada, the USA and Europe.
2007 saw the release of their sophomore album Fear of Falling Skies, on Curve/Universal. From the lead off single, The Great Divide, to the final whispers of 1949, this album is a tumultuous ride through personal struggle, political despair, and imminent environmental disaster that somehow, like the calm after a storm, leaves the listener with a sense of hope.
It is now early 2010 and the band has welcomed two new members since their last album. After a short hiatus, Derek, Sam and Ethan felt a strong need and desire to come together and play music again. When Jason Kun amicably left the band to pursue his profession as an architect, Burnthe8track brought in longtime friend and guitarist, Mark Nowak to fill this role. Although Jason will certainly be missed, Mark's addition to the band has added a new sense of purpose and excitement in terms of writing for the upcoming release. Burnthe8track has just finished recording 6 new songs set for a late spring/early summer throughout Europe. These songs showcase the bands unique brand of powerful yet melodic brand of punk rock.
