SPREAD EAGLE Live at Lawn Roller Rink July 23, 1977 (whole show) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 20, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
"............ and they said you'd never play Lawn Roller Rink!" Boy, were they wrong. There we were on a hot summer evening, making a stand and banging out the hits of the day, plus a few, in fact quite a few original songs as well.

This is everything that was recorded that evening. I cleaned up the noise at the beginning, and faded out then back in sides one and two of the original reel to reel that it was recorded on. It has the obligatory unfortunate edits from an attempt to save tape, but all in all it is a fair representation of what we were up to at that time. When it was recorded it was meant to be a learning tool for the band, but as time has gone by it has become sort of a rarity, as no studio recordings exist of the band and therefore it's a must hear for anyone that was there back in the day, or is interested in this line up of J.C.'s band.

This line up is essentially the last version of Gabe Magno's Chameleon without Gabriel, John instead on guitar. I guess a sort of Lizzy / Ash vibe to the band with the dueling guitars, but we enjoyed covering a lot of others as well, from Beatles to Floyd.

Now, as for that flyer there on the screen, that is something hand done by John, or Mikey, or a combination of the 2. These were unmercifully plastered all over the south side in the weeks before the show. That's how you did it before the internet. I have no idea about the aliases or what they may infer. Cool to still have a copy of it though!

SPREAD EAGLE is:

John Curulewski - guitar, vocals

Mike Eberlein - guitar

Mike McCune - bass, vocals

Steve Fagiano - drums

Gary Stewart - vocals
