The Big F - Patience Peregrine (EP) - 04 - Towed - Video

DESCRIPTION:
After a long hiatus The Big F returned in 93 with the Patience Peregrine EP. Of course by this time the musical landscape had a slightly different look to it (sarcasm fully intended). The bedrock laid by bands like, Fishbone, Jane's Addiction, early Soundgarden, etc and of course the first Big F album, helped paved the way for the explosion of the Seattle bands.

To me this EP shows the band embracing a certain amount of the "sound of the times" while still retaining much of the first albums pulsating heaviness. It's a little more slick and polished, lacking a little of that "edge" that the first album had...but the songs are just so cleverly written with amazing little hooks and twisting of guitar lines inside and out. In some ways the "mood" this EP creates is more even more captivating than the self titled album.

Unfortunately....again timing seemed to do them in...at least from my perspective. Perhaps seen as a "Johnny come lately" into the whole "grunge" (sorry...I know it's a useless term; but sometimes appropriate.) scene, and neglected by the label with no promotion....they just couldn't find an audience.

Maybe they'll get a slightly bigger one now!
