PUBLISHED:  Jun 29, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
In 1971, the song "Stay Awhile", written by Canadian singer-songwriter Ken Tobias, became a major song hit in Canada as well as the States. The on again, off again, group The Bells (also from Canada) recorded the song and the it became a major hit worldwide, selling four million copies and going to #1 in Canada on the RPM 100 national Top Singles chart on April 10, 1971. This was their only top 40 hit in the U.S., reaching #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Though a bit syrupy and corny, one can not deny that for anyone with any sense of musicality, it will be appreciated for its pervasively beautiful melody!
