DESCRIPTION:
"The Being Song" was written following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings last December, inspired by my desire to positively impact the future of our world by imparting fundamental human values unto the children who will have the opportunity and responsibility to create it -- principles of being.

To me the choice for the right person to sing "The Being Song" seemed clear. The original version of "The Being Song" was meant to appeal to an ageless audience. I had spent nearly 3 years producing a beautiful new CD for adults with a wonderful singer/songwriter, Teri Merliss, called "Keep Moving Forward-Just Clap." I knew from seeing her perform that she was also a gifted children's entertainer (http://missterimusic.com/). Once she agreed and gave the song a try, it proved a perfect fit, and the original version is included on her CD.

I wanted from the start to create a video for the song that would appeal to children, and approached my friend Alan Berger, owner of "Peace Through Play Nursery School," with the prospect of having his children create artwork for it. Alan instantly fell in love with the song, and it soon became one of the children's favorites. His only suggestion was if the chorus could appear more often, as the children seemed anxious to repeat it. Realizing the value in his suggestion, I went back to my master audio file and did a composite to create the extended version now in this video. After living with it for a few weeks, he asked his teachers to work with the children, ages 3 to 5, to create art based on how the song inspired them. In three sessions they made small drawings with colored pencils, larger finger paintings, and collages, with the teachers writing down their comments, saved so I could present them alongside the art. After a few more months and several hundred hours with my video editing program, the final video was born.
