Vocalist JINADU and producer KIRK DEGIORGIO first collaborated on the AS ONE album ë21st Century Soul (Ubiquity Recordings) in 2001.

Both have worked mainly in the electronic dance genre ñ recording for a wide range of labels from Mo Wax to Bitches Brew.

The Beauty Room came about thru continued collaboration with Degiorgio sending Jinadu sketches of songs with increasingly unusual progressions. Jinadu was in his element and sent them back with catchy melodies, hooks galore and layer upon layer of rich harmonies.

With support from A&R guru Dan Keeling (Coldplay, Athlete) Degiorgio got together the session musicians and the studios he wanted for the unique arrangements that were forming around these songs.

Drummer Chris Whitten (Paul McCartney, Edie Brickell) and Grammy winning engineer Peter Henderson (Supertramp) were first onboard.
Degiorgio and Jinadu then enlisted classical pianist Tom O'Grady, guitarist Ian O'Brien another artist from the electronic dance field and Wayne Urquhart cellist and string arranger.

Over a period of 3 years in between busy DJ schedules and various production duties an album's worth of material by The Beauty Room finally emerged. Using a combination of the latest technological advances at Degiorgio's home-studio and vintage gear such as an original solid-state EMI desk as used on "Dark Side of the Moon" - the aim was for a classic, warm sound with a contemporary twist.

Dan Keeling signed the bands cover of Jan Hammer's "Don't You Know" for his Vanity Projects imprint at EMI. Released as a limited edition 10" in December 2005 an early promo first caught the ear of Zero 7, Max Sedgely and Patrick Forge who all gave it airplay/chart-listings. Since its official release it has received further airplay from Radio 1's Rob Da Bank and Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Jazzanova, etc.

Peacefrog signed The Beauty Room after being the first independent label to receive a CD-R. Degiorgio and manager Mark Melton sensed that - with owner Pete Hutchison's deep love of folk-rock and acoustic soul Peacefrog would be the perfect label to work with.

So leave all preconceived ideas about the kind of material these artists have produced over the years The Beauty Room is quite removed from anything either Degiorgio or Jinadu has done before.

Fans of John Martyn or Crosby, Stills & Nash should also be drawn toward this beguiling album, for while the overall mood is smooth and mellifluous, this is by no means lightweight music far from it.
