This is a demo of the latest in the Fuzz Face Mini series, which is a modern interpretation of the Fuzz Face Distortion used by Jimi Hendrix in his later performances. According to Dunlop, the white-knob fuzz that Jimi used at gigs including Woodstock and Fillmore East was very different from those he’d used before. It’s said to be based on an Octavio/a circuit, but without the octave-up effect. Dunlop has recreated that more biting sound in this new mini version that also features true bypass, a status LED and the ability to be powered by a 9V mains adapter.

In this demo, Mick is playing the Band Of Gypsys Fuzz Face Mini through a Hughes & Kettner Puretone head and 2 x 12 cabinet. The cabinet is mic’d with Sennheiser e906 and Rode NT5 mics, plus there is a Rode NT4 stereo mic in the room. Some sections feature a Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe while the reverb is from a TC Electronic Hall Of Fame, placed in line after the Deja Vibe. The guitars are a Fender American Vintage Stratocaster and a Gibson Derek Trucks SG.
