It was in the fall of 1988 when this four piece unit found out that they together had the same visions of were to go with their musical direction, and MASQUERADE was established. During the first two years the band concentrated on writing music, rehearsing and perform live as much as possible. In 1990 Masquerade recorded a promotional cassette and a single which was reviewed in the English magazine Metal Hammer with MEGA ratings! Swedish record companies were now aware of this highly recommended bandy and in early 1991 the band started to record their self titled album MASQUERADE , and thanks to the good relation ship with Christer Wedin(Empire Records), the choice of record company was easy. The record company brought the engineer Ronny Lahti Saigon Kick, Europe, Talisman, Electric Boys , Clockwise into the project for finalizing the mixing. When The album hit the streets in 1992, the reviews from rock critics all over Europe and Japan had the same opinion, the album was great ! The critics compared MASQUERADE with bands like Whitesnake, Def Leppard etc.

Fresh from the tour MASQUERADE did after the release of the first album and vitalizing of energy after that successful tour, the band started to write new material. When the songs were ready MASQUERADE started to record their new album, again together with Ronny Lahti as the sound and mixing engineer. The album Surface Of Pain was released in 1995, and took a little bit heavier approach than the first debut album. And now the vibrancy of the band took them to the American audience, who repeatedly embraced bands like, Metallica, Kings X, Faith Warning etc. with such loyalty.

After releasing their new album a tour followed in Europe and Japan. Later the same year MASQUERADE released the Surface Of Pain album in America and the band went to the US for a promotional trip.

After been working hard for many years now the band took a long awaited break.

A couple of years later the band is ready to rock hard again! This time they have worked together with Fredrik Nordström who recently has achieved big success with Hammerfall. This third album was called Flux and will not disappoint any Masquerade fan
