In 1969 drummer G.C Coleman from The Winston's performed and recorded the now famous Amen break, from the song 'Amen brother'. This six second beat has become one of the most famous break beats in history. It was extensively used in early hip hop and has formed the foundation for many styles such as drum n bass. It is one of my favorite beats of all time and epitomizes the funk and soul drumming that I love to play.
