DESCRIPTION:
...walking into the church in Santa Barbara where we recorded the cd...Lindley's wiesenborns...guitars...violins..mandolin and oud sprayed reverently across the floor behind the altar like a musical rainbow...then we play
and I can barely contain the tears.
what a day.
It was almost over and I still hadn't mentioned this one song...the song my heart needed to sing the most....
I sat tongue tied and frozen in the pew as he continued to play his lapsteel at 4am...knowing it was over...too late..but then I heard him playing the melody of this song in my heart.
Wordless...like a tardy choir girl...I blushed and slipped quietly behind him as he played...
Courage came:
"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound"...I sang.
Lindley stopped...
for a very heavy moment I thought I'd interrupted his reverie...but no:
"Roll tape" he said...and we played and 5 minutes later had the last song for the CD: "Amazing Grace"
what a moment.
I am so grateful to be a musician. Amazing Grace.
