Fletcher Henderson & his Orchestra made records for almost every American record label from the early 1920s onwards. In 1924 they recorded for Vocalion, Pathé Actuelle/Perfect, Columbia, Paramount and the Plaza group of labels (Banner, Domino, Regal etc.) among others.

This recording, Tea Pot Dome Blues, was made for the Vocalion label on April 15, 1924.

In the band were major jazz stars as Coleman Hawkins (ts), Don Redman (cl), Teddy Nixon (tb), Elmer Chambers and Howard Scott (co), Kaiser Marshall (dm), and of course Henderson himself on piano.
