Video by David Thomas (http://kirkstalldarkmatter.blogspot.co.uk/) using footage from two anthropological films made by David Attenborough in the 1970s as part of The Tribal Eye series.

Contextual notes from David Thomas:

'Man Blong Custom' looks at Melanesia and is partially concerned with a man called Moro who started a cult on Guadalcanal which aimed to reject everything Western and Christian and return to traditional values.

'Woven Gardens' is about the rugs woven by Qashqai nomads in Iran, it represents a different cultural approach to representative art to that of the Melanesians. It is an art which records an idealised real world, you might imagine an Iranian rug being washed up and added to Moros 'house of memory'.
