Dirt: 'Shanghai Burning', Syntax Records '97 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 26, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Thought we'd throw in the actual video for the 'Shanghai Burning' son from Dirts 'Plague' album (available on iTunes/Amazon.com). The footage was shot and edited by industry giant, Tim, of Syntax Records. If memory serves me well, he had just bought a nice video camera and simply wanted to test it out. He and Dirt came up with a rough idea for somethin, over a burrito, and they were filming later that day!

Under a bridge in Jamul, San Diego CA, they dug a hole and buried Dirt in it (Yes.. Dirt was buried in the dirt. Haha, never heard that one before). You'll notice that another famous emcee, Redcloud, comes along to dig him out (Redcloud was visiting the Syntax that day and got peer-pressured into coming along and being an 'actor' for the day.

There is two other famous appearances in this footage. Dirts brother, Matthew (the one he wrote the fan-favorite, 'Matthew' song about!) is the youngster who appears in the vehicle with Dirt. Matt must be excused for having absolutely no rhythm, its been a plague from his birth.

The 3rd famed appearance comes from Uncle Joe. the Van!

the White and Grey striped 1988 Chevy van in the video, affectionately named 'Joe', is the same van that took POD on nationwide tours, including Dirt from '97-2000. That van is SUPER Tuff Gong and will go down in history as the greatest touring vehicle ever! ... with its V8, 570 long block engine, there were none, although alot tried, that could beat Joe to 'the next show'.

and to this day, that van runs great. (it had finally lost its engine at 263,000!).

Check them all out in this classic footage.
