D-R-U-N-K with MARSEILLE / Syn-Tax-Error - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Parisian techno maverick, D-R-U-N-K, unleashes his aural onslaught with the release of 'D-R-U-N-K with MARSEILLE' on Police Records and looks certain to set the summer parties ablaze. Hot on the heels of his recent EP, 'Ghetto', D-R-U-N-K has served up yet another fiendishly, addictive slice of inner city, urban electronica.
Teaming up with Russian rising star, Marseille, the EP features three futuristic, post apocalyptic interpretations of robotic desires, destined to keep you up way past your bedtime and into the wee hours of the unknown.

The EP kicks off with 'I Dont Need To Sleep', a twisted, haunting excursion into the darker realms of electro as the music spirals beyond the stratosphere anchored by a hypnotic analogue driven pulse. Oly Grasset (D-R-U-N-K) explains, "It's about a computer speech synthesizer female voice who realises that she sounds human but doesn't need anything us humans need, so she demonstrates to us how impossible life will be if we didn't sleep, eat, drink and so on. Robot poetry."

I don't need to eat
I don't need to sleep
I am not hungry
I am not ugly
I don't need to work
I don't need network
I have no money
I am not lonely

I don't need to dream
I don't need to scream
I am not a man
I am no woman
I don't need a god
I don't need a dog
I don't need to drink
I don't need to think

I don't need to eat
I don't need to sleep

Next up is the dramatically produced 'Syn-Tax-Error', that envisages the majestic sounds of an intergalactic orchestra fine tuning their instruments before storming extra-terrestrial dance-floors with a gargantuan groove and colossal sequences. This is the perfect theme tune to an unstoppable robot army invasion.
Grasset adds, "When Marseille came up with the vocal line, it sounded like something resembling, 'a**' and then 'hole'. I asked him what it was but he didn't know either. So we both went on Skype and that's when I realised that Alex didn't speak much English and I don't speak Russian. So no one really knows exactly what the robot says, it could be describing something anatomical or it could be another language, it's up to the listener to decide."

The EP finishes off with the risqué, 'Botjob', which leaves little to the imagination. A cybernetically charged rhythm that sparks and pounds relentlessly, spliced together with jerky beats and twinkly percussion. "Marseille and I were joking about Nu Techno tracks being over produced with annoying cute bleeps in them," recalls Grasset. "So we renamed that style, R2D2." He goes on to add, "When we finished the track, we thought of calling it 'R2D2 is Dead' but after a few more listens and going mental and deeper into jokes we decided that the vocal break at 1:35 sounded like a R2D2 doing a blowjob, that's how we came up with the title, BOTJOB."

Marseille and D-R-U-N-K also serve up their own remixes on this essential summer EP.

The extra remix package for 'I Dont Need To Sleep' will be released August 27 2012 and will feature remixes from D-R-U-N-K, Marseille (USSR), Ntology (BE), FATHER (UK), GMOROZOV (USSR) and Polymorphic (USSR).
