June 1, 2010 – Albany, GA - When we last spoke to GA-Entertainment.com President/CEO/Founder Antonio R. Richardson, Sr. he was laser focused on making Southwest Georgia's music & entertainment scene a force to be reckoned with, selling mix-tapes, hosting area talent shows, and networking at out-of-state industry events. "I still feel like we don't get the respect that we deserve down here," said Richardson. "People drive to Atlanta, Tallahassee, Birmingham, and South Carolina for shows and events instead of Albany. As a result, the first thing we have to do is bring more awareness to the market." Therefore, Richardson created the Southwest, GA Radio Music Conference & Awards Show, an all-day workshop/seminar featuring record label veterans, high-powered promoters, area musicians, and other music industry insiders sharing tips and strategies with up-and-coming artists so they can find success in the music business. "It's going to be an excellent educational opportunity," Richardson said. "There will be talent experts, record labels, managers, models, and artists ready to help other artists that are currently trying to enter the music business but simply don't know what to do. If they come, they will walk out with a map for success." Along with hosting panel discussions on finding the right management and effectively promoting shows, the conference will feature an artist and model showcase as well as a Celebrity Afterparty at the conclusion of the event from 10:00 pm – 2:00 am.
Richardson, a 2000 graduate of Clark Atlanta University (Sports Management), and a 2008 graduate of Troy State University (Business Management), knows first-hand how industry events can advance your career. In order to promote his company, his artists, and the Southwest Georgia music scene, Richardson constantly travels to Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida and points beyond, rubbing shoulders with hip-hop superstars and industry heavyweights. "I go to these other markets to see what they are doing right," he said. "I've learned a lot about the independent music scene in those areas." These lessons gave Richardson the confidence and tools needed to create GA-Entertainment.com which is an urban marketing and management company. "The main purpose of GA-Entertainment.com is to promote good music and talented artists, as well as help those artists successfully manage their careers" Richardson said. "A lot of people don't push music unless it's Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, or T.I., however; you have a lot of artists in Southwest Georgia, North Florida, and Eastern Alabama that could be the next Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, or T.I."
The conference has been in the works for two years, adding to Richardson's already full plate, which includes a Record Label, a Publishing Company, a Management Firm, a Marketing & Promotions Company, a Modeling Agency, a Clothing Store, and the annual Albany State University Homecoming College Town Block Party! With so much of his life dedicated to the entertainment industry, Richardson thought it was fitting to utilize the conference as an instrument to shine some light on the Southwest Georgia music scene. "The conference has become biggest networking and music business educational event to hit the Southwest Georgia, North Florida, and Eastern Alabama region."
