Led Zeppelin - Swan Song Outtake - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 15, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
This is the full outtake of Swan Song from Led Zeppelin's outtake album Brutal Artistry. On the album, the song is split into "take 1" and "take 2." They are actually not separate takes, but the same song. If they were two takes, they would cover the same parts of the song and be about the same length, but they are vastly different in both aspects. Take 1 appears to be the intro and take 2 the remainder of the song. The pause between them was likely intended to be filled with vocals and probably would have been shortened in further edits*. I've noticed a lot of people have posted the second half of the song, but not the first. I felt it was about time someone uploaded the whole thing. Even unfinished as it is, it is beautiful. This song would later develop into Midnight Moonlight, a song by Jimmy Page's super group The Firm. Listen to both and hear the similarities and the differences. Then it becomes clear that the two parts are not separate takes.

*A similar pause can be heard about 1:45 seconds into Midnight Moonlight, after the lyrics "bird on the wing, she is flying to me."
