DESCRIPTION:
I worked with 5th grade Educator Nick Krissie to develop and offer a program to 130 5th grade students at Sunset Middle School in Coos Bay, Oregon to build their own cigar box guitars over a course of 3 months. I then traveled to Coos Bay to work with those students for a week to teach them to play the instruments. This project culminated in a community-wide concert at The Egyptian Theatre, where I invited the students to join me on-stage to play some Blues on their new guitars, and get under those spot lights for some stage time!
