HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sugar, This is a Gospel version of I Want to Be Free by The Ohio Players, as tribute to Sugarfoot of the Ohio Players, brother you are finally FREE of all the burdens, I couldnt physically give you a Present like your Bdays before, but i can certainly give you he present of keeping your legacy alive, Btw, you gave me MANY great bday presents, but Here we go, a few years ago I was asked to help a good friend, Pastor Ronnie Diamond Hoard, (Formerly of the Ohio Players) do a gospel version of Sugars favorite song, I Want To Be Free, to help arrange, play bass and sing background vocals as tribute to Leroy (Sugarfoot) Bonner, of course I accepted being that Sugar was one of my very best friends in life AND Mr Hoard was the person that 1st brought into the rim of the Ohio Players back in the 80s, Though i still have massive unreleased music of Sugar, i chose this song that was recorded and i think released a few years ago, to be the Tribute song for his Bday this year, in which Sugarfoot himself heard, liked and approved before his passing, (Btw, i also KNOW for a fact that he had his final talk with god before departing this earth) but anyway, I hesitated for the past 3 years to do this because i knew i would be emotional while putting together this collage of pics, his life and his favorite song, but what better time than to do this than on March 14, 2016, his Birthday, Happy Birthday Sugarfoot, i Hope those of you that know and loved Sugarfoot will listen, enjoy and remember Sugar, Ragus, Foots, for who he were, I promised him that some way i would always keep his legacy alive,, Thanks to my other Sugarfoot's Ohio Players members, David d1 Grant and Courtney Girlie Drums, Ronnie Hoard, Lead Vocals and Lead Guitar, Myself Bass Guitar, Background Vocals, Arranged, thanks to all of the S.F. Ohio Players Crew that made his last days pleasant, thank to the early Ohio Players that made his early days pleasant, thank to all his family and friend that made his LIFE pleasant
