The Duckwave Experience - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 11, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
For 26 years I played mandolin with the Atlanta bluegrass band "Cedar Hill" and played the part of "Ranger Brad" in our alter-ego "The Dazzling Duckwavers". (The only band in the world who heckles the audience.)

Here we are trying to embarrass a guy named Greg on his birthday at the old Freight Room in Decatur, Ga., catching a request and workin' on fillin' that tip bucket. That was before I started influencing the tips using mind control and a small blinking red light on the bucket. Those were the days of relying on cornball humor and a "likkered up" audience.

I credit the study of the stage demeanor of Buck Peacock (when he was fronting Rosebud at Gus Fletchers in '80), Lester Flatt, "Too Slim" and Rodney Dillard for influencing my on-stage persona.

This tape was undated but I think was around '87. No doubt shot by Bob Perl, our singular fan.

For the curious: I never went in for those cheap Toy 'R Us fake buck teeth. Nothing but the finest for me. I am adorned with my genuine "Dr. Bukk" teef. It was my second set, professionally fitted by biting on a styrofoam cup and mailing it to Dr. Bukk (his-own-self) in Augusta, Georgia. My first set melted in a clothes dryer accident. REAL Dr. Bukk teef are the ultimate chick magnets. Ask Roselyn Carter. Or ask Darz.
