Thaxted Morris Men "Sturch' s piece" - 2009 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 19, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
This dance was created by the Ilmington Morris Men in memory of "fiddler" Sturch from Shipston-on-Stour who was the last of a family of local musicians. The melody was one of "fiddler's" favorites and the dance is created in Ilmington style but including corners figures that are not found in any of the other Ilmington dances. I remember "fiddler" when I joined the Shipston Model Club in the early 1970s, he was also a keen steam engine model maker, and he also had just retired from the Shipston Silver Band as I joined.
