A Blackbird Singing - Shawn Patrick Fletcher - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 31, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
This video is from the Senior Recital of Shawn Patrick Fletcher on April 26, 2012.

On shore, the young man spends as much time with his love as possible, knowing it won't be long before he is headed back out to sea on another dangerous fishing voyage. His love tells him of how she dreams of them running away together, to some place without fishermen and the sea, a place where they could be together, always. He explains to her that this is the life they were meant for and reassures her that while he is away she is the only thing on his mind.

A Blackbird Singing

A blackbird singing
On a moss upholstered stone,
Bluebells swinging,
Shadows wildly blown,
A song in the wood,
A ship on the sea.
The song was for you
And the ship was for me.

A blackbird singing
I hear in my troubled mind,
Bluebells swinging
I see in a distant wind.
But sorrow and silence
Are the wood's threnody,
The silence for you
And the sorrow for me.
