Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys Stoney Lonesome (1959) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 06, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
This is one of my favorite Monroe instrumentals, and it's one rarely heard these days. It was recorded in Nashville January 30, 1959, and features Monroe on mandolin, Charlie Smith & Bobby Hicks on fiddles, Robert Pennington on banjo, Jack Cooke guitar, and Bessie Lee Mauldin on bass. This was named after a village that Monroe would pass through on his way to Bean Blossom, Indiana.
