In January of 2001 Stich was formed, and consisted of drummer Patrik Vormittag, guitarist Michael DiazSantiago, and bassist Kevin Strother. Stich is an “Assimilated Metal” band from Aurora, CO on a mission for greatness, or at least great music. After over three years of trials and tribulations they finally rounded out their lineup in late 2004 with vocalist Douglas Hauck II, the voice of Stich. Stich's unique sound always came from pushing the limits of their talent and creativity. Refusing conformity into one specific style or genre is the essence that makes up the Stich sound. A style in which can be heard through its diversity and constant adaptations, unique even by today's standards. Combine this with their live presence and the result is the crowds' explosion of aggression and energy, a key ingredient for any successful metal show.



Delving deeper into the individual instruments gives insight to what is the end result, the music. Douglas' vocal range utilizes every aspect of his voice from whispers to roars some might say he isn't even human. Meaningful lyrics, difficult rhythms, and creative melodies are only a few of the traits he brings to the Stich sound. Patrik, a south-pawed samurai, is certainly a metal drummer. However, his strong marching band and jazz roots make him very technical. This allows him to incorporate various different patterns and styles into a single piece. A metal tone to a funk rhythm is not uncommon. Michael's guitar could sometimes be described as a chainsaw ripping through bone, and shortly thereafter you may hear a melody seducing the rage away. Truly he is a story teller; effortlessly painting an audio montage of pain and pleasure between 24 frets. Kevin is the reason Stich has only one guitar. While other basses simply fill in or “back-up” the guitar, Kevin's talent for bridging the rhythm and melody has grown directly from Stich's mantra “without limitations.” Coming from a background of percussion could be partially responsible for his unconventional style.



Adhering to a code of being a band of substance and not just rhythms and melodies, Stich wants to be an influence to those who would choose to listen. Music has undoubtedly gotten all four members of Stich through many hard times. It is that understanding that motivates Stich to compose pieces filled with energy and emotion. “We write music for those who would seek to draw strength from it.”
