Song-writing is the core of the Nemesys strategy into the hearts and minds of listeners old and new. Since the founding members Anthony Hamilton, Eric Herrera and James Davis vowed to pursue a band while Anthony and Eric were finishing their terms in the Navy and James was finishing his business degree in Finance and Accounting from CU Boulder, the band – now consisting of lead guitarist Eric Johnson and bassist Andrew Bailey – hasn’t forgotten their mission statement: to write good songs – never becoming complacent for the sake of putting another song on the set.

The band is confident in their songs’ longevity because of their ability to be diverse in their set, but also sustain ‘a sound.’ Local supporters of Nemesys are refreshed with the band’s ability to share the stage with Denver’s lighter alternative / rock scene while also sharing the stage with some of Denver’s heavier metal bands without shocking the bill. Nemesys finds a way to make their songs attractive to the alternative and the metal crowds at the same time by allowing the passion of Anthony’s vocals to ride on top of softer melodies, while also allowing Anthony’s more sensitive moments to be accompanied by dirty and raw guitars with a power-driven rhythm. Nemesys understands that a song can be powerful and even mean without incessant double-bass, gratuitous distortion and growling vocals; however, the band isn’t afraid to bring those aggressive elements to songs that could play on an alternative radio station. At the same time, the band isn’t afraid to bring almost Pop elements to a radio audience that requests songs by Korn, Pantera or Mudvayne for fear they’re in the wrong demographic.

Songs aside, the band’s chemistry comes from a long history of friendship that serves as the foundation for the band’s durability as far as staying together, and their natural charisma on-stage during performances – not to mention their reputation as the “fun band” off the stage. If song-writing is number one, performance is number two. The performance is the moment they show the audience where all the hard work and creative passion has been invested, and Nemesys looks at each performance as a privilege in the sense that the songs they love so much can be shared with those looking for something to grab onto, relate to and feel. Anyone who knows any of the five members of Nemesys will attest to the heart and passion that emits from their pores in everything that they do. With the first full-length album on its way, music listeners from an array of different styles will soon be able to grab onto, relate to and feel the Nemesys sound Denver has embraced since 2003!
