Artist Biography: The press was ecstatic after LaGaylia’s debut in Sweden with Robert Wells’ “Rhapsody in Rock”-tour summer 2000:

After moving to Sweden in 2001 LaGaylia was quickly embraced by the Swedish audience and entertainment industry alike. It was a matter of the heart that gave LaGaylia the courage to move from Florida to Sundsvall. She now lives in Stockholm and in 2008 she became a Swedish citizen.

From the age of 5 she was a dedicated piano player. Then came the abrupt change whilst studying music at a college in Miami when LaGaylia began to focus on singing. At Miami University she studied classical voice, jazz, music theory and composition. As a teenager she became a member of the group “Bandera” who had a radio hit in Florida with the song “Voodoo”. The band also toured in Europe. Later she started a R&B band playing clubs in and around Fort Lauderdale where she highlighted at the Coconut club in Fort Lauderdale.

It was there the legendary artist manager Eliot Weisman of Premier Artists discovered LaGaylia and signed her to his management. In his management were Liza Minnelli, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra. Eliot Weisman was responsible for the legendary tour, “The Ultimate Event” starring Frank, Liza and Sammy. Under Weisman’s management LaGaylia performed in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. A favourite of the top comedian Don Rickles, LaGaylia opened for him in those venues. LaGaylia was hand-picked for a singing part in the movie “The Specialist” (Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone). After a re-mix of the song “Shower me with love”, it ranked number 12 on U.S. Billboard’s ‘Dance Chart’ where it remained for four months 1994/1995.

Much of her musical talent and inspiration LaGaylia ascribes to her father Hal Frazier, a professional singer who came up through the ranks with Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett and Vic Damone. Father Hal was often seen in American TV shows such as “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson. LaGaylia’s other musical inspirations are Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Prince and Average White Band.

LaGaylia Frazier releases an EP full of soul and blues and funk entitled That Girl on August 14, 2013. After 20 plus years in show business she thinks it's time to get personal and real with the music that has inspired her. She has never been more sincere than now. With the new EP That Girl, LaGaylia wants to show what she is really about musically.
The EP is all about raw soul and funk.
The productions are stripped down, and the EP was recorded during three intensive days in a small studio in Stockholm. Inspiration was found in everything from Prince to Stevie wonder to Portisehead.
