Slo Poke - Appreciation Of - Album Commercial

With his laid-back demeanor and thunderous voice, NW based artist Slo-Poke aka S.P has a voice that is dark like the grim reaper and booms over beats.

Growing up in Olympia Washington, he began writing as a child because it was the most effective way for him to express how he felt about what was going on in his life. During high school he gained local notoriety after being featured on local mixtapes. From there he began doing shows and realized that performing is his passion. Impressing rocking his performances regardless of the turnout, he has also won numerous talent showcases and emcee battles while developing his technique. Opening up for veteran artists such as Scarface, Bone Thugs and Harmony, The Roots, Digital Underground, and The Luniz; he has additionally sharing the stage with newer faces such as Young Buck, Juelz Santana, and Mike Jones.

With resemblance to a musical diary, his songs are an honest testimony to the different pages throughout his life. He gives a simplistic approach to chaotic explanations of existence and its more serious of experiences. “As his topics run the gamut, S.P. excels because he raps about a variety of subjects. Although his name hints at a lack of speed or urgency, S.P. makes music that hits hard regardless of style.” (The Source Magazine’s Unsigned Hype, January 2008) His sound bears resemblance to Young Joc is the sense that he obtains a demanding presence due to his distinctive voice.

In 2004, S.P let loose his first album, Better Late Than Never and sold 2,000 units without a distribution deal. When you listen to the album, it sounds as if S.P is sitting next to you narrating his personal struggles to grind on throughout rigid years. Singles from his album also received spins on Seattle’s premier hip hop station, KUBE 93. “What You Like” was in rotation for four weeks and “Your In Love” aired for six. Following his album, he released the How I Woulda Said It Vol 1-3, and The NW Spokesman mixtapes. This caught the eyes of a group of investors, and in 2006, he relocated to San Diego, California.

With differences of opinion on the process of creating an album, a mutual decision was reached for S.P to find a more suitable partnership. In early 2007, he signed to Hi Rollerz Records and preceded to Portland, OR where he will release his sophomore album, that will drop in early 2008, The Appreciation of…My Past, My Present, My Future. This album gives a brief background on what he’s been through as an artist and where he is headed now. He has also recently supplied an album teaser mixtape, The Anticipation of., and is working on his next mixtape, The Hometown Hero as well. S.P has always stayed true to himself and what he represents as an artist; he has a withstanding quality that will produce for years to come.
