Fender Rhodes Satellite Speakers (SOLD) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 05, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
These speaker cabinets are monsters: 70 lbs each; 25 ½ in. tall X 29 in. wide X 14 in. deep. Good and loud, too. Yamaha CP-30 being played through them here.

These are complete, although the 5 pin socket on the Master unit has been replaced with a ¼ inch jack input (like something a tech / musician modded on the road in a pinch due to having lost the stereo Rhodes cable perhaps?)—BUT the 5 pin socket is still inside the Master cabinet, hanging from one of the wires... just not attached to anything.

So essentially these speakers can presently be used in two ways: 1. as two separate amps, each with its own ¼ inch jack input, or 2. together, where a standard ¼ in. cord can connect the output jack on the Master unit with the input jack on the Slave unit. However, everything needed to return these to their original purpose is still present—if you desire to use these as dedicated Rhodes piano speakers once again (maybe a do-it-yourself job, or have a tech check it out).

I used these speakers with a Yamaha CP-70B and a CP-30. Since both of these electric pianos have built-in stereo ping pong vibrato with separate right and left channel outputs, I simply sent each channel to a Rhodes speaker (via ¼ inch cable) and SHAZAM: bad-ass stereo ping pong vibrato! I played a Clavinet D6 through these speakers, too, connecting the Slave to the Master for extra volume.

I have another set of these with an early Stage 88, and they sound KILLER; much cooler / trippier / more effective sound with respect to the Rhodes ping pong vibrato than the suitcase model speaker cabinet, of course (Granted, they are a little more to lug around, but hey....).

Physically, these units are in good, solid shape. Except for a missing ground pin on the power plug interface of the Slave Unit [an easy fix], only the expected scuffs, scratches, nicks, and dings from age and normal use are to be found. The front grill cloths of both units are in good shape—no rips or tears; just some wear. All chrome corner guard pieces, handles, plastic Fender Rhodes label pieces, etc. are present. All electronics are present and work, although things are a little dusty / dirty inside. NOTE: the wooden back panels are replacements and are painted black and not covered in Tolex.
