Tool Cover - Sober (using only software for sounds) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 26, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
This is part of an experiment for my university study into using software for live rock performances as opposed to traditional amps, effects and drum sounds. Not the best take, but we'd only had a couple of practices as a band so far and I'd pretty much just worked the guitars out from youtube on the day. Disclaimer for the crappy guitar playing and buggered up lyrics aside, the software/hardware we used was -

Profire 2626 audio interface
PC recording system (i7 930, 12GB ram)
Cubase 5
Amplitube 3 (bass and guitar)
Waves H-Comp and EQ
Superior Drummer 2 (Avatar kit)
Behringer FCB1010 footswitch
Alesis DM10 Studio (2011) electric drumkit
Common-or-garden sennheiser dynamic mi for the vocals

The take is just live, straight out of Cubase's mixer, hence a few weird things like cymbals not triggering. I thought it turned out relatively well so may do a better, 'edited' take with a couple of vocals and guitar parts taken from earlier attempts. The stuff with the software view and pedals is just to show the pedal control and VSTs reacting to the playing for the purpose of my university presentation.
