Pale Blue Dot ☷ Aguas De Marco - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Carl Sagan's brilliant chronicle over the phenomenal Rosa Passos',
'Aguas de Marco', written by Antonio Carlos Jobim.

I saw Sagan's famous chronicle on the 'Pale Blue Dot' last week on Cosmos and it occurred to me a few days later that Tom Jobim and Carl were fishing in a very similar pond. I thought that the contrast of Sagan's deliberate somber oration over the Rosa Passos arrangement of "Aguas De Marco" would be an interesting way to present these disparate tales about our rivers of lives here on the pale blue dot -- as Mumford says, ". . . where the rays of many separate beams of life fall into focus."

The Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by the Voyager 1 space probe at the request of Carl Sagan, from a record distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) from Earth, as part of the solar system Family Portrait series of images.

In the photograph, Earth is shown as a fraction of a pixel (0.12 pixel in size) against the vastness of space. The Voyager 1 spacecraft, which had completed its primary mission and was leaving the Solar System, was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and to take a photograph of Earth across a great expanse of space.
