DESCRIPTION:
North Carolina hardcore band Drugcharge return with their second demo tape entitled "Speed Kills." After an excellent first demo that was later released as a 7" flexi, NC's leather-clad freak punx return with 5 new songs and a clearer, punchier recording than the raw sound on the first tape. Many of the distinguished qualities that I loved from the first demo are still here, particularly the odd variation of vocal styles, including the faint sound of gregorian humming and some low, growling death metal style vocals. This new tape features the inclusion of a spoken word section in character as a police officer in the opening of "Mask". There are a couple of longer cuts where Drugcharge seems more ambitious with their songwriting, including some complex song structures and Iommi-esque guitar leads. Still, my favorite track is "Death of Nicole", which begins at a straightforward pogo pace, but is just one catchy riff after another. There is word that Drugcharge plans to tour later in 2016, so hopefully this isn't the last we'll be hearing from them. Dig this!
