Sagvik: Credo from Missa Maria Magdalena - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 16, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
This is a documentary recording from the very first performance of Stellan Sagvik's Missa Maria Magdalena in Maria Magdalena Church in Stockholm, Sweden in 1995 - the Credo part. The young talented mezzo, Johanna Nyström, is creating the voice of Maria Magdalene, the moment when she starts believing in Jesus as the son of God and exclaims "I believe - Credo in unum Deum". A too small numbered Maria Magdalena Motet Choir tries desperately to match the 40 piece Stockholm Wind Symphonics and two church organs (played by Ralph Gustafsson and Mathias Kjellgren), all conducted by Mika Eichenholz, who also conducted the first CD recording of the Mass a year later. Choirmasters keeping the 40 meters separated singers together was Ragnar Bohlin and Judith Linder, the latter commissioned the piece. Ragnar Bohlin made the second CD recording of Missa Maria Magdalena in 2005. Both recordings are available from nosag records - www.nosag.se
