Sometime World - Wishbone Ash (1972) FLAC Remaster HD 1080p - Video

DESCRIPTION:
"Sometime World" was released on Wishbone Ash's third album, Argus, in the spring of 1972. Wishbone Ash is another band that I followed for many years...they produced some extremely great rock music and although they always had their followers.....they remain underrated in my opinion. Argus is their best record, but they produced several other strong albums. I've wanted to do something from this record for a long time and it's another where it was hard to select which track to do first as most of the songs on the record are equally great. Just a seriously outstanding rock record....this band mastered the twin-lead guitar attack sound that other bands emulated later.

I can remember so clearly how I first came to hear this record so many years ago. In maybe '76 or '77, I had a friend who knew I was always buying new records and who used to tell me that his older brother had a box of old rock and roll records in the attic...but we couldn't mess with them. Then one day my friend wanted to trade me for some record I had which was popular at the time (think it was an ELO record?...remember we lived in a tiny town, so it wasn't easy to get new records...and he must have wanted this record NOW! LOL!)....and let me pull three records from the elusive box. I ended up selecting Wishbone Ash's "Argus", T. Rex's "Electric Warrior" and Dave Mason's "Alone Together". I'd never heard of any of these artists and the selections were made (as was often the case) for the first two based on the cover art...and for the third because it was "marble vinyl" something I'd never seen before. All three records were pretty worn, with the jackets frayed at the edges....but two of these records went on to become favorites and introduce me to bands that I immediately began collecting older releases and buying new ones....Wishbone Ash & T. Rex. (So strange that I cannot recall even one song from the Dave Mason album...I know I spun it several times thinking that maybe if I just listened to it once more, it would click....thinking about it now, I'm definitely going to seek it out and listen to it again, but then again, after years of trying, Traffic has never opened up to me either....and they were the very favorite band of the manager at the record store I worked at and I frequently heard their albums....one of those acts I've spoken of before that were so critically acclaimed that I never connected with...any Traffic/Dave Mason fans please give me a clue?! ;-)

I'll stop rambling now....hope you enjoy this video. AND if you're a younger rock fan who hasn't heard Wishbone Ash, and you enjoyed this track....you may want to seek out more by the group.

FROM WIKI:
Wishbone Ash are considered to be one of the major innovators of the harmony twin lead guitar format. Their contributions helped Andy Powell and Ted Turner to be voted "Two of the Ten Most Important Guitarists in Rock History" (Traffic magazine 1989), and to appear in the "Top 20 Guitarists Of All Time" (Rolling Stone). Melody Maker (1972) described Powell and Turner as "the most interesting two guitar team since the days when Beck and Page graced The Yardbirds".

Argus is the most popular Wishbone Ash album and widely considered their greatest by fans and reviewers. It was named "Album of the Year" in the 1972 year-end issue of Sounds magazine. The album features a blend of progressive rock, folk, and hard rock, and is considered a landmark album in the progression of twin-lead guitar harmonization later adopted by bands such as Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden.

The sound engineer on Argus was Martin Birch, who also worked with Deep Purple, later with Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and other hard rock/heavy metal bands. The bulk of the melodies and lyrics were provided by bassist/lead vocalist Martin Turner, although all members contributed to the song arrangements.

With the success of Argus, the band also became one of the most popular live attractions of the day.

In 2002, an expanded CD was released, featuring a remix (by Martin Turner) of the original album as well as 3 live tracks from the EP Live from Memphis promotional EP, recorded in the studios of WMC-FM.

In 2007, a deluxe edition was released. This included the 1972 mix as well as additional BBC Session tracks.

[Lyrics]
I met a man who felt the same way,
That the world had passed him by.
Told to me all his troubles,
That the world had made him cry.

Life had kept him waiting,
Regretting his pain inside.
Had to feel underrated,
And hated, besides.

Life had kept him waiting,
Regretting his shame inside.
Had to feel underrated,
And hated, besides.

Sometime world, pass me by again,
Carry you, carry me, away.
(Repeat twice)
