Tim Carlin, Owner/Engineer

Owner Tim Carlin started his Audio Engineering Career in 1983. He attended the Institue of Audio Research in NYC and apprenticed at many Studios throughout New York and New Jersey. Tim was a Live Sound Engineer for popular local bands in New Jersey before opening Solid Sound Rehearsal and Recording Studios in Whippany NJ in 1989. He operated the 24 Track Studio for 13 years before relocating to Cape Cod, MA. Tim has Engineered and Produced countless albums for Independent and Label backed Bands, as well as running his own Indie Label, Solid Sound Records, for many years.
Digital and Analog Recording
After a hiatus, Tim opened SSN Studios (short for Solid Sound North) in 2015. The Studio boasts an Allen and Heath GS-R24M Digital Console with fully motorized faders and automation. Recording is via Pro Tools 11 for digital tracking, or an Otari MTR90II, 2 inch 24 Track Tape Machine for Analog clients. The console enables clients to either mix solely "in the box" of Pro Tools, or via Analog Summing through the Console to a Digital Mixdown Deck. The Studio has several pieces of Vintage Outboard Gear, as well as hundreds of Digital Plug In's for Pro Tools.
