Hello my fellow Elton John fans and subscribers! On September 7th, there will be a Skype debate on Elton's 1982 Jump Up tour. For the next week or so, all of my uploads will be focused on that particular tour! If you are a fan of the 1982 tour, then these uploads are for you! This recording is complete (with cuts between songs) with decent quality (although the tape heads "click" throughout the recording).

This is Elton's first show on the European leg of the Jump Up Tour, and despite having "first gig nerves" (he admits to being nervous before "All The Girls Love Alice"), he and his band mates deliver a great show (albeit with some rough spots here and there). Similar to Sydney, the tempos on this concert are pretty reasonable, so we can actually follow the songs without getting left in the dust!

Elton's voice is in great shape overall, but there's a curious observation about his voice on this show: At times, he sounds squeaky clean and sounds really fresh (to the point where he almost sounds like his younger self), and during other times, his voice sounds rough (like he intentionally rasps) and he would dodge some higher parts on songs. I don't know if this is due to stage nerves, or because of his voice (he either didn't warm it up, didn't "oil" it for the tour, etc), but it's something I've noticed about this show. Either way, it doesn't ruin the show, so don't worry! Now, it's time for those analyzation paragraphs!

"Love Lies Bleeding" sounds great (Elton sounds clean on the bulk of the song--which is a rarity for the tour), "All The Girls Love Alice" has unique phrasing and Elton actually dodges a Bb4, "Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy" is a solid performance, "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" has some rough moments (some off harmonies and Elton not hitting some higher notes completely clean), but he pulls off the song well, "Better Off Dead" is good, "Ball And Chain" sounds pretty similar to the SNL version (which is a good thing), "Empty Garden" has very nice phrasing, but Elton sounds a bit rough in spots, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is a great version, "Dixie Lily" sounds nice, "Song For Guy" is the typical excellent version, "Nobody Wins" has Elton delivering the song very aggressively, "Elton's Song" sounds nice, "Chloe" has album phrasing in spots, but Elton sings a couple off notes (hitting Eb instead of D for example), "Where To Now St. Peter" has some conservative phrasing, but sounds pretty good, "Blue Eyes" is a good version, but there's far better versions on future gigs, and "Where Have All The Good Times Gone" sounds great!

"Rocket Man" has some rough moments throughout (Elton hitting some notes not very cleanly, flubbing lines, etc), "Bennie And The Jets" has Elton making up piano chords and lyrics during the verses, but has fun during the instrumental/improv section, "Teacher I Need You" is a solid version, but the song truly shines on the North American leg of this tour (the tempo gets cranked up and Elton starts embellishing the song in multiple ways), "All Quiet On The Western Front" has Elton flubbing the lyrics in the third verse, but it's a strong version overall, "Pinball Wizard" has a rough introduction, but the main bulk of the song sounds great, "Your Song" sounds great, "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" is a good version (despite a couple rough spots), "Daniel" is a unique version (the drums come in during the second verse, and Elton does unique vocal phrasing), and "Crocodile Rock" isn't Elton's finest hour (he hits many notes off and completely airs the first falsetto note in the second chorus), but contains the hilarious moments of an audience member trying to sing the falsetto parts--but failing!

ENJOY!!!

Note: There's some technical problems before "Pinball Wizard."
