ABOUT THE BAND:

Slang 5 was formed in early 2003, the five has always been the band that brings the party. People have really started to notice what kind of an impact the band has been making during the couple of years. Playing sold out dates all over the mid-west either as the headliner or supporting acts that fit well with them stylistically has helped.

Slang 5 consists of two vocalists(who share the emcee and singing duties) a DJ, phat bass, guitar, and a funky drummer. With funk-rock grooves and pimped out vocal styles, the five is the latest to bust out of the already hot Omaha, Nebraska.

Slang 5 has been through a few changes in their 4+ year career. Once the lineup was solidified with the right players, the band pushed to take it to the next level. Along the way the band made friends with national recording artists and underground heroes the Phunk Junkeez.

As soon as the band finished tracking "The Original Jive (2005)" in Phoenix, AZ with Ken Mary(Alice Cooper) and Jumbo Jim (Phunk Junkeez) Slang 5 hit the road all summer in support of the Phunk Junkeez.

RB Records put out the "Original Jive" August 25th 2006. With the good graces of God and the kind gestures of their new friends in Japan the band toured Japan that same month with support from Uzumaki and friends. The band returned from their journey with a new found sense of fervor and respect for their place in the music world.

Upon return from the far East, Slang 5 has continued to push, hustle, and grind as much as possible. It is this effort that has scored the band success in the past, and is what will continue to make them an emerging force in today's music scene. <-- (the band bio just couldn't be "cool" without something like that right)

The band's new studio album titled "The Five of Cups" is set to release November 28th with a release party at The Slowdown. The record will be available for purchase the following tuesday in store and online December 2. The new record is the next big thing SLANG 5, recorded between 2007 and 2009 in Phoenix, AZ, Slang 5 is ready to come back at you with another dose of what they do. Expect extensive tour and international tour dates to follow.

Slang 5 is comfortable in any genre of music from rock to soul, funk to hip-hop they can do it all. But the precise nature in which they craft an entirely new sound from that of the old is truly what poises Slang 5 to rival any of today's popular acts. For real.
