The Moonshine Bandits hail from the small agricultural town of Los Banos located in the heart of California. Raised on a mix of Johnny Cash, the Beastie Boys, lifted trucks, whiskey and beer, The Moonshine Bandits have taken the somewhat obscure music genre of Outlaw Country Rock/Rap to all kinds of new audiences. The Bandits were founded in California back in 1999 by Tex and Bird. Tex and Bird not only write the songs that reflect the lifestyle of a Moonshine Bandit, but they also own and operate their own business independently. The Bandits are blue collar built with American Pride and their success is truely a result of hard work and doing things “their” way. The Moonshine Bandits music reflects that.
How did they get the name “Moonshine Bandits”? There are a few answers for that. The main reason is because Tex’s great grandfather was a bootlegger. His great grandfather actually bootlegged Alcoholic beverages during the Prohibition years. It was an illegal way of making money, but he felt it was necessary to provide for his family when times were tough. Tex’s grandfather worked his operation out of a small Barber Shop located in Half Moon Bay, CA. He used Tex’s Great Aunt to distribute the alcohol in Baby Carriages. The Barber Shop was the front, pushing the liquor in strollers was just a clever disguise to distribute the bottles without getting noticed.
The Bandits have toured Nationally and performed with established artists such as Uncle Kracker, David Allan Coe, Rehab, Tech N9ne, Kottonmouth Kings, Pepper, N2Deep, Twiztid, Vanilla Ice, Blue October, E-40, Bubba Sparxxx and the list goes on. Moonshine Bandits songs “Sweet Home California” , “Moonshine” featuring Danny Boone from the group REHAB (Sittin’ at a Bar song), and “Super Goggles” have all received Radio Airplay on FM Top 40 Stations in various regions.
The Bandits musical diversity stems from their lifestyle. They have performed in Biker Clubhouses where most Police Departments wouldn’t even step foot in, Smoke Filled Dive Bars, Biker Bars, Clubs, Harley Davidson Events, Beer Festivals, Music Venues, and just about every other type of venue you can imagine. The ultimate honor was receiving a phone call from the United States Military to perform at Fort Irwin, CA. The Moonshine Bandits performed on July 4, 2010 at the Fort Irwin Military Base located in the Mojave Desert for thousands of our U.S. Troops. Their Live performances rival many of today’s mega super stars. Their show consists of backup singer Derrty D, Award Winning DJ ChopStiqs, Shiner Girl Dancer Kristin aka Firecracker, lifted 4×4 Limo, and their drummer B. Diddy. If the Bandits are in your town, be ready for a Hell Raisin’ Good ol’ Time! As the Moonshine Bandits gained momentum and their fan base started spreading outside of California to different states, and to Japan, Canada, and troops stationed overseas, SHINER NATION WAS BUILT. Shiner Nation was formed to unite all Moonshine Bandits fans. The Definition of a Shiner is a Rowdy Individual commonly known as a Moonshine Bandit Fan. Living the Shiner Lifestyle isn’t just about the music, it’s also about partying it up and raising hell your own way. You only live once.
