DESCRIPTION:
"With Afterhour Cuts Vol.1, Berlin based producer Nick Beringer returns to Skylax Records after his First Floor EP appeared on the sub-label Wax Classic back in 2012. He brings six great house tracks of varying degrees of deepness and as the name of the EP suggests, all are designed for the afterhours.

"Afterhour Cut 1" sets the tone with sexy, soulful vocals and comforting chords, teasing us with keys and bringing all the elements together perfectly as the track progresses. Moving on to "Afterhour Cut 2", we are met by familiar samples flipped into something totally fresh. The bassline on this track combined with those vocals will make it very difficult for people in the club to keep their feet still. "Afterhour Cut 3" rounds off the A-side, seemingly bringing together the best bits of both tracks which came before. Sexy vocal snippets, jazzy chords, tight drums and a warm bass with an analogue feel wrap up this track as one of my favourites on the release.

The tracks on the flip steer away from the sounds used on the A-side and really show off Nick's wide influences in house music. Going in blind, if you had asked me where these last three tracks had been made, I would have said the US and not Germany. It's a testament to Nick's ability that he can capture the soul as he does in these tracks without leaving us with something hollow, like so many aspiring producers do today. "Afterhour Cut 4" is a real New Jersey style jam with its signature keys, while "Afterhour Cut 5" shows off a more contemplative sound, reminding me of early 90s New York deep house. "Afterhour Cut 6" seals the deal, with Nick bringing a classic Detroit feel to the mix, instantly making me think of fellow Skylax artist, Jason Grove.

Listeners, this is an EP not to miss, and it shows how consistent Skylax are continuing to be with their high-quality output."
