The Gyan Connection is a band put together to pay tribute to one of the more revered bassists on the Indian music scene, Gyan Singh, who had an illustrious four decades-long career before succumbing to a fight with colon cancer. He, along with his wife Jayashree Singh, an accomplished vocalist and Amyt Dutta, one of India's greatest living guitarists broke new ground in independent music Skinny Alley and later with Pinknoise.
The tribute being lined up at Escape, where Gyan was a regular, held special significance for a lot of North Indians who could hear Kolkatta-based Gyan come closer to where they lived.
