John Holt known as Sir John Holt was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1947 and recorded us first single 'I Cried a Tear' in 1963. He then Joined the group 'The Paragons' where he became lead singer and they went on to make tracks such as 'The Tide is High' which was made famous by Blonde and the girl group Atomic Kitten. 'Ok Fred' and 'Prince Buster'

He left the Paragons in 1970 for a solo career and by the early 1970's he became one of the biggest reggae stars in the world and his single 'Stick By Me' was the biggest selling record in 1972 and has been covered by many artists to date.

Many though will know him for his Top 10 UK hit 'Help Me Make it Through The Night' which was regularly played on Sunday afternoons in Caribbean homes across the country. Other big hits include covers of Billy Joel's 'Just the Way You are' and Diana Ross 'Touch Me In The Morning'
