Through mountains and valleys
My Soroke stands, dreaming
By a fortress from long ago
There, in a little Jewish street
My Mama rocked me
And sand me a lullaby
That did my heart good...

There, from a rabbi
I learned the Hebrew alphabet
And worked, until river of sweat
Ran from my brow
And there, by the pretty little bridge
I walked with my friends
And there I met my love
Which still lives on today...

Wild, angry winds
Took me away from my home
And scattered the hometown folk
All over the world
Though the years have run away
My pain remains
