Sherlock's Daughter - Secret Sound Shop - Side A - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 29, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
When we stumbled across Sherlock's Daughter performing a secret gig for Sofar Sounds in a cosy Soho living room, we knew instantly that they would be a perfect fit for Secret Sound Shop. Originating from Australia and New Zealand, the group currently reside in New York and in May released their debut EP to the US and Europe.
It took very little deliberation to conclude that Tanya Horo's sweet, delicate vocals would work perfectly in a beautiful garden and so we found the ideal one for the setting of their video. Unfortunately, less than an hour before filming disaster struck and the location fell through. We headed to Alphabet City to scout out the area and resolve this crisis. Wandering along 4th Street we eventually struck lucky with El Jardin del Paraiso. It was like an oasis in the desert; the gate was open and we wandered inside where a treehouse appeared before us.
Lugging their equipment up the steps it provided the perfect stomping ground for 'Sons and Daughters' and a safe haven for the beautiful and mellow, 'Tim- Tan'. Shortly after the first two songs, the band were debating using an iPhone to recreate keys to perform another track before Tanya heard a noise. Coming from behind the trees, we found a group of people making music on something that resembled a glockenspiel and a xylophone. A xylo-glock. A jam session was inevitable and the result, magical.
So therein lies Secret Sound Shop #2. Sherlock's Daughter and the lovely people we met in the park, we thank you.
