Seydi Mandoza
Born in 1978 in Rufisque, Senegal, Seydi Mandoza grew up with a passion for music and dancing, finding influences in all sorts of styles and musical traditions. In his early career he was part of the rap/hip hop group Ska Blue, reaching great popularity in Senegal and its' surroundings.
In 2000 he left the group to pursue a solo career, participating actively in shows and on various albums all over the African continent. His lively and energetic live performances have been largely appreciated since his first time on stage. Seydi Mandoza is living in Sweden since 2008, building a musical platform. He has been giving shows regularly in different venues, mainly around his hometown Gothenburg, but also across Scandinavia.
Mandoza's style is a unique blend of different musical inputs, always framed by his own warm and vibrant roots reggae sound. His music comes in different settings, backed by a full scale roots reggae band or acoustic style. Either way, he always gives the crowd a unique live experience, which has been largely appreciated.
Seydi Mandoza has a positive view of life and sings about love, solidarity and justice, often highlighting the difficulties his fellow Africans face on a daily basis. Most songs are performed in his native language Wolof, sometimes in English or French, but his message is not only expressed in words, but in his lively vibes, passion and musicality. Seydi Mandoza is backed by the band Solid Foundation, consisting of a core of musicians from the Swedish reggae scene.
