Venezuelan democracy is under attack -- not from the people's government and the organs of popular power that have been built over the 15 years of the Bolivarian Revolution -- but from the aggressive policies of the United States government. Obama's signing of an executive order referring to Venezuela as an "extraordinary threat to national security" is a further attempt to facilitate regime change in Caracas, following actions such as the 2002 attempted coup under the watch of George W. Bush and the foiled plot earlier this year. Venezuela's independence, sovereignty and democratic aspirations must be respected. Long live the spirit of Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution!
