"Winter Crows" by Ron Ireland & Suze Scott - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 23, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Once in a great long while, a musician comes along who is unique and so talented that it's impossible not to take notice. Ron Ireland is that kind of musician. Ron and I became friends a couple of years ago, and he has generously allowed me to work with his music. I've done mostly live filming and videos, but we also have written a few songs together and he even got me to sing backup on a couple. The things you do for friends!

"Winter Crows" is special for several reasons because it was a shared effort and because we both love birds, especially crows. The lyrics are mine from a poem I wrote some time ago. Ron wrote and recorded the music & vocals in Sept 2009. He said as soon as he read the poem, he heard the music for it. This song is beautiful! It sounds like an old English folk tune with a bit dignity & formality. Melody, guitar and voice are from Ron; video images were shot locally, and dance images were used with permission. Thanks for writing this song, Ron. It's an honor and a pleasure to work with your music. May you always sing!

If you like John Prine or John Fahey - if you like acoustic music - if you like finger picking guitar - if you like original and intelligent lyrics - if you like a unique and passionate voice -- then you will absolutely love Ron Ireland! Please visit his music on the web and discover him for yourself.

winter to crows:
sing me a spring
call from my treetops
and in shall ye bring
flowers of golden
skies made of blue
air soft as cotton
waiting for you

lay by the bare wheat fields
mow down the stark corn
no frost on the new grass
this newly hatched morn
move me to long days
around summer's bend
until we reach autumn
together again
