SHP Bio

Scott Harris Project, aka SHP, has made it their mission to create something fun and infectious while spreading that vibe globally. In the last few years the band has toured relentlessly, developing their live act and promoting their debut album, “In Between a Memory and a Dream”. Along the way, they have shared the stage with such legendary acts as Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms, Sugar Ray, Lifehouse, and Toots & the Maytals. At each and every show the band delivered their unique sound to new and large audiences, winning over fans at every stop. After a national summer tour in 2008 opening for Teddy Geiger, Scott and the band found themselves in studio with famed producer Paul Fox, who has previously worked with acts including Phish, Bjork and 10,000 Maniacs. Scott’s development over the last few years has allowed him to take his writing to a whole new “Level”, which will be brought to the masses in 2009.

The New York-based threesome came together over three years ago when band leader, Scott Harris, teamed up with bassist Pat Castania and drummer, Sal Giancarelli. Scott, the creative force behind the band, has been a well-known artist in the New York area since his teens. Scott began writing songs on the piano at the young age of five and soon graduated to the guitar. By college, Scott had developed a strong and loyal fan base.

“I write songs people can sing to,” says Scott. “I just try to have a good time with my music and I think that’s why people gravitate toward it.” Scott’s music is an eclectic mix of rock, pop, crafty lyrics and upbeat songs.

“We’re always told that our live show has a ton of energy,” says Scott. “On our debut album, we set out to capture that energy.”

“Live It Up” is a party anthem type of song. After learning of a local tragedy in which a group of friends passed away, Scott wrote this song for his closest friends. “It’s about living in the moment and taking advantage of life,” explains Scott. “Live It Up” is just the kind of song that captures the feel-good vibe of SHP.

Then there’s “Level” which is Scott’s version of a love song. “It’s just about being with the best girl possible. Someone who loves you for exactly who you are,” says Scott. With lyrics like “straight from the heart this time, girl in my world needs no pickup line… ask her how her day went, she wouldn’t beg for a compliment,” Scott describes the easy happiness of being with his ideal girl.

Now in 2009, the band has set out to build upon their success over the past few years, delivering an album that will excite old fans and bring new fans into the fold. There no doubt will be a new sound to the band’s music but one thing will surely stay the same, SHP will continue to write songs for the whole world to sing.
