Holders Scar - World Fever CS (2016) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 11, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Latest release from Greensboro, NC's hardcore powerhouse Holder's Scar. Because they started back in 2012 (or maybe 2011?), I always kind of distinguish Holder's Scar as being the original band that bridged the gap between NC hardcore from years back to what it's become now. The original members have gone on to form a ton of great bands from the area, like Menthol, Bad Eric, and Wriggle. I always liked Holder's Scar's original recording from back in 2012 and their 7" on To Live A Lie, but I always thought it stood out as having sort of metallic or modern hardcore influences because it was very chuggy, breakdown oriented, and had blast beat parts. Even so, I always thought there was something weird and unique beneath surface, due mainly to the unusual vocals. I gotta say though, on this new recording on "World Fever" I think Holder's Scar has finally embraced their weirdness. It vibes more with the members' other current projects, but it's still heavy and has some "mosh" riffs. For me personally, it feels less stiff and limited to one sound. Definitely my favorite release by them so far.
