Sarah Brendel grew up in the North of Germany, not far from the ocean. Influenced by her parents who are both artists, Sarah started writing poems at a young age, inspiried by various records, she ventured into writing songs and taught herself to play guitar and other instruments.
Just one year later, with a little help from some friends she recorded her first songs. Her style is particularly characterised by her extraordinary voice. Wild mouth organ parts, forceful guitar play, soothing melodies with poetical lyrics are reminis-cent of her musical heroes ( Bob Dylan, Larry Norman and Chi Coltrane).
Sarah moves between the worlds of Folk, Indie, Rock, and Pop but cannot be pigeon-holed by any means. Whether it is Sarah by herself just with her guitar, or with a full band, whether quiet and contemplative, or loud and cranking - her music never fails to move the heart.
Sarah Brendel is one of the first German songwriters who got a record deal in the USA. With her song "Fire" she reached number 86 in the U.S. Billboard Airplay charts. For several months she lived in Nashville, TN and played concerts all over the United States.
In the last two years Sarah played more than 250 shows in Germany, the USA and also on the Faroe Islands, in Scandinavia, Slovakia and Switzerland.
