DESCRIPTION:
After removing 6 screws, and 1 hidden gold screw in a larger hole behind some circular foam (you can push aside flexibly between the top 2 screws) I believe the two super small star/torque screws on the bottom are not necessary for this procedure. All screw removal can be done with a small philips screwdriver, then pulling out battery sled carefully and removing 2 more screws from battery sled top (which totals 9 screws), you'll notice that either your "third battery" top contact "bronze colored button" needs pushed out or realigned for it's preventing using 3 batteries (but your 2 batteries work in 2 battery mode) but more than likely, this notorious worst case scenario in this video.

Poor material used in the schematic, a super THIN RED wire that reads each battery level will be disconnected from its solder joint, preventing you from firing 2 or 3 batteries! This was done intentionally for more sales, if it wasn't, the wire wouldn't jiggle each time you just changed your batteries. Which is clearly often an elementary use of every mod. With zero actual abuse to the mod, it is rigged to eventually display "Check Battery" error prohibiting performance just from changing batteries.

The higher the angle, the worse it is. Need to keep the wire low angled when soldered, possible shielding/shrink wrap, but not necessary unless your mod starts hissing and smoking on its own. Throw it in a river, it's been reported once a solder job that touched more than what's already there and overheated everything badly.

Disclaimer: This is an easy fix, do at your own risk, I'm not responsible if mod overheats from too much solder, and video is just to show what parts need to come off to pull battery sled out and the thin red wire to the solder joint via 1st thing pointed at to 2nd thing pointed at.
