Russia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest ten times, and in every year since 2000. Their debut was in the 1994 contest after Russia became a member of the EBU. In 2003 Russia was a pre-contest favourite due to being represented by the popular duo t.A.T.u., only to finish 3rd. Their best placing is 2nd, where Russia has found itself twice: first in 2000 with Alsou and again in 2006 with popular singer Dima Bilan.

Serebro will represent Russia at the ESC in Helsinki on May 12, 2007, with their song "Song Number One".
